April Shar-Pei Mix League City, TX

My name is April and that’s a very lucky name because that is when I was saved. I had been homeless out on the streets for at least 4 months; people kept posting me and my sad story on Facebook but no one ever came until this April. I was so skinny, had a bad case of Demodex mange (from all the stress of being homeless for so long AND having babies!), I was not spayed and I had heartworms and hookworms. Fast forward to today – I am living a life of luxury mostly because this is probably the first time anyone ever loved me. It feels so good!! I’m all healthy and I’m ready for MY forever home. I’m sure by now you have noticed that my hair is still thin in places but I’ve been through so much I hope I can find a family who loves my inside so much they won’t care that my outside is a little bit bald; hey, in the winter I can wear the latest fashions and no one will ever know! HeeHee. I am such a sweet girl, I get along with all sizes of nice dogs (but I like to wrestle so the bigger ones are more fun for me), I am good around cats if they like me, I like ALL kinds of people but I might be too rambunctious for little kids. I LOVE pizzles and Oinkies; LOVE them I say. I sometimes play fetch, sometimes. I’m a snuggler, that’s for sure. I’m pretty sure I only weigh 5 pounds but my foster dad says it’s more like 44 pounds. Let’s not quibble about my weight – I love laying in or around your lap anytime you will have me. Despite all of the hardship I have endured I have the spirit of the happiest dog around. Now that I’m with Second Chance, I don’t know if I ever remember ‘the bad old days’.

Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies) which includes State of Texas sales tax. All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas.
