Meet Apricot D5438

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Apricot is a timid dog who is coming out of his shell. When he came to us he was terrified of everything except our resident dogs. Our dogs have shown him that we are not a threat, he has become best buddies with our mastiff. They routinely sleep together on the couch. Now that he has had time to settle in and learn the people in the house are not going to hurt him he has become quite the character. He loves to play with us now, his favorite game is where we bounce at him, he bounces at us then runs around the yard.

He plays with our resident dogs by wrestling or running wind sprints in the backyard. If he has a good chew toy is good for the afternoon. No issue with chewing shoes.

He is a snuggle buddy with us. When we are on the couch he is on a lap. At night he sleeps in bed with us typically under an arm. Now that the weather is colder he snuggles under the covers as close as he can get.

When Apricot is uncomfortable he runs and barks. When he first met our grandchildren or new adults this was his behavior. Now that he has gained confidence he no longer barks but will stay on the edge of the group. Because he still has challenges it would be best if he went to a home with older children or just adults. We believe that when he moves to his for ever home he may back slide into this behavior so will need someone with patience to allow him to feel comfortable again.

He is completely house trained. We are able to let him roam freely in the house when we are gone and there are no issues. We have not started any of the routine training - sit, stay, down, etc. His confidence is not quite there yet.
