Meet Apricot
Are you ready to meet your new best buddy and activity partner? Look no further than Apricot!
Apricot is about a year old, she is some sort of long-legged cattle dog mix who loves to play and loves to be around her human. She is a great example of a young dog who needs a lot of positive training and exercise to be her best self. She is mouthy, jumpy, reactive to other dogs and cars on leash, she gets over excited when seeing new people, she will eat the food you left out on the counter and bark hello to your coworkers on your video meetings.
Apricot has met a couple dogs in her foster home and she is goofy and playful with them. She is reactive to other dogs on leash, but would love to live with a more laid back and social dog, especially a male dog. Apricot has not been tested with cats, but gets quite excited about squirrels and other prey creatures in the yard. She has shown to be energetic in her foster home - she is busy and loves going for walks, runs and playing in the yard.
Apricot’s ideal adopters live in a quieter neighborhood or rural setting. She is still learning leash manners and basic cues, so an adopter who is planning on taking her to a positive reinforcement based training class would be great! Apricot is smart and quickly picks up on routine. She loves toys and will toss them around to play fetch with herself. She will play fetch with you until your arm falls off. Fenced yard preferred. Apricot also loves to hear herself talk and will bark and chatter at you no matter her mood. For this reason, Apricot is not a good fit for those who live in apartments or other housing with shared walls.
Apricot can be mouthy and jumpy when she is excited and will grab onto stray fabric like mittens or long sleeves. No kids under 14, please. She is housebroken and crate trained and sleeps in a crate at night.
Apricot is being fostered in Cleveland, OH. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on appropriate vaccines. She is heartworm negative and has been kept on flea/tick/heartworm preventative.
