Leo German Shepherd Dog & Chow Chow Mix Vacaville, CA

Leo(pold) is an Asian mix, aged about 8-9 years old, and weighing 60-70lbs.
He has a typical Asian dog personality in that he can be aloof and stoic. With that being said, he warms up with a little encouragement and enjoys leaning on you and getting pets and scratchies. When you stop petting him, he asks for more, by nudging your hand or dropping his head in your lap!
He does great on walks and responds well to the leash/harness.
He has a similar social style with other dogs: it depends on the dog whether he wants to interact or not, but is appropriate with his corrections when asking them to back off.

The shelter's (from where we rescued him) vet found that he does have some weakness in his hind end due to minor spondylosis. Per the vet, this may warrant medication in the future but does not at this time. While his gait is a little stiff in the hind end, he does not appear to be painful and is able to stand/walk normally.

We have not tested him with cats, other small critters, or children yet, but would expect him to have a normally high prey drive for smaller, wild animals (squirrels, rabbits etc) and again, would recommend caution with any introduction (regardless of the dog's breed).

His foster Mom says: "I've noticed he definitely prefers males to females, but he has no trouble making friends with either. I've had friends come by to meet him, and he is always friendly. If I had to describe his personality, I would say he is a loyal, sweet, love bug who would love nothing more than to stay cuddled with you! He is very low maintenance and quiet, and is a great walking partner or couch potato! I would love to see him go to a home with a backyard so he could come/go more easily (without having to worry about stairs with his potential arthritis)."
