Apollo German Shepherd Dog Mix Bellingham, WA

Hi, my name is Apollo! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Playful, active, intelligent, rowdy, rude puppy but in a big body!
-Can Live with Kids: Kids ages 16+ only
-Can Live with Cats: No, I have a history of chasing cats and other small animals
-Can Live with Dogs: At this time, no. I am extremely rude and would likely be "too much" for other dogs. I need to work on my socialization skills before I can safely coexist with any canine friends. (This may change pending further testing here at the shelter.)
-Can do Apartment Living: No thanks! According to my previous owners, I am known to bark/howl and am used to living outdoors. I would do best in a home with a fenced yard, but this is not required so long as I get LOTS of exercise.
-Potty Trained: Unknown, but would likely be a quick learner
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, one to three private lessons depending on adopter experience
-Energy Level: HIGH!!!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a neuter and microchip

Additional Information: Apollo is a HIGH ENERGY young dog looking for an active person who will take him on lots of adventures! This goofy guy hasn't had much training but is very intelligent and eager to learn. He will need a dedicated, experienced person/family that can invest in his future. He would do best in a home where his owners are present most of the day and are able to be consistent with training. German shepherds are working dogs - meaning they need more than the average amount of exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy. Otherwise, it is likely Apollo will channel his energy in the wrong way and become destructive. Apollo's potential adopters will need to demonstrate extensive breed knowledge (German shepherd experience recommended, dog-experience required) and be able to meet his needs.
