Meet Angel

Hi everybody. My name is Angel and I am looking for someone really special. I am not your typical dog. I am not going to cuddle you, go on walks, or play with your kids or dog. Not yet. But I want to. I need someone looking to save a dog and be the amazing forever family that I deserve. I am around 5-6 years old, and look like a Beagle mix. I was a feral dog for at least 4 to 5 years, running loose, no one to trust, and having multiple litters of pups. The nice people that lived nearby left out food, but I was too scared to let them near me. A rescue and animal control tried to catch me for a year, but I was way too street smart for that. Finally, when my last litter was a week old, they caught me. I was so very scared, but was not aggressive at all. I didn’t trust humans and I was so very scared. The rescue let me raise my babies in a safe place, then they were vetted and adopted by good families. I was treated for Heart Worms and spayed. My foster mom says, now it’s my turn for a happy ever after. We have been working together for 6 months, and I have made progress. In the beginning, foster mom had to carry me outside to potty. Now, I go out on my own. Foster mom loves me and says I am the easiest foster ever. I sleep on the human bed, I am house trained. I let her know when I need to go out, and when I am ready to come back in. Then back on the bed. I don’t destroy things so I am allowed free reign of the house, but I pretty much just stay on the bed. I have started playing a little with the dogs in my foster home. Mom is so excited watching me come out of my shell! So, what’s the problem? I can be petted, but I am still so nervous, so will back away if you get to close. Leash work is a work in progress. I just freeze, whenever I am put on a leash. I know I can do it, with patience, time, and consistency. Are there any special families out there that would be willing to work with me, love me, and help me? I promise, I am so worth it. Things I need in my new family include a secure fenced yard, stable home, and other cats and dogs (I love cats) to help me feel safe forever. Remember I was a savvy street pup but now I am learning the ropes of what it is like to be a pampered indoor dog and I am loving it! I can't wait to have a family to call my very own!
