Meet AMY SANTIAGO
REQUIRES ANOTHER LARGE DOG IN THE HOME
REQUIRES A DOG-SAVVY PERSON EXPERIENCE WITH LARGE-BREED DOGS
NAME: Amy Santiago
LITTER: Amy Santiago is part of the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" litter.
AGE/GENDER: Estimated 7.20.20, Female
REED: Labrador Retriever mix
TEMPERAMENT: Shy, anxious, sweet, playful with other dogs
WEIGHT: 60ish pounds
HOUSE TRAINING: Good!
CRATE TRAINING: She is crate trained.
OTHER DOGS: Good! She requires another dog in the home for her emotional well being. She can be a dominate female so a male easygoing dog would be the best match for her.
CATS: Maybe not.
CHILDREN: Best in a home without children due to her anxiety and lack of socialization.
ADOPTION DONATION: $550.00
HEALTH: Amy Santiago is healthy! She is spayed, microchipped, flea treated, vaccinated and dewormed. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs.
HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find her a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!
NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME:
Amy is an undersocialized girl and can be fearful of new situations, people and places. She was part of an unwanted litter and raised in a country setting with her brother and sister, so has not met a lot of people and seen much of the world beyond that one property. This can be fixed and Amy can grow into a more confident dog. But not alone. This requires training and continued socialization with another dog in the home who can act as a mentor for Amy. This dog should be friendly and outgoing to help show Amy that the world is not a scary place. Amy loves to play with other dogs and in time learns to trust and love her people with the help of the resident mentor dog.
Amy Santiago is a very sweet girl who bonds to her immediate circle of people; however, she is still wary of strangers and this will be an ongoing process of training and socialization for her. She is also more leery of men than women, so she may avoid men while bonding with the females in the home. She will be initially fearful and uncertain in new environments, so may not be the type of dog who goes to breweries, dog parks, etc. She would need walks in the neighborhood to increase her confidence and then stretching out from there. In her comfort zone, she is silly and sweet and has a lot of potential with the right, patient family. Doggie daycare is recommended versus a dog park as there should be smaller and supervised playgroups.
All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.
Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization that is run entirely by volunteers. Motley Zoo does not have a brick and mortar shelter location. Instead, all our rescue animals are cared for in private foster homes where the animals receive one-on-one care and attention in a home environment until permanent placement is found. Please email adopt@motleyzoo.org and request an adoption application and we will work toward approving you as an adopter with our rescue so that we can set a time for you to meet!
