Amber's Story

This sweet little girl is AMBER and she's just about a year old and weighs 35 pounds although she could use a few extra pound so all treats are welcome! She has a beautiful dark brown coat with 2 adorable white patches on her chest and under her chin. She's a small and gentle girl who is a bit shy when you first meet her but warms up quickly and just wants to give you love. She's very friendly to everyone she meets and loves playing with other pups. She's living with a great Foster Mom who says Amber loves playing in the yard and going for walk in the neighborhood. She's working hard on her leash skills and is doing great. Amber is fully house-trained and crate trained and such an endearing & good girl. If you're looking for a sweet medium sized pup who will be a loving member of your family...Amber is your girl! We think she'd do best in a suburban home that has a fully fenced in yard so she can play to her heart's content. She'd love a doggie sibling to play with but could be a solo pup too as long as she gets love, affection and good exercise. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get more info and videos of this sweet little girl.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
