Meet Amazing Saphy
Saphy, short for Sapphire, is a petite shepherd mix 4 yo female. Saphy had a rough start in life in TX and was living under a house for 6 months before we were alerted to her. We rescued, rehabilitated, and moved her to an amazing foster home in the NW who helped her continue her healing journey.
Saphy is around 50 lbs, fully vetted (spayed, vaccinated, chipped, and heartworm negative). Saphy LOVES other dogs and we do think she’d do best in a home with another dog. While a great size for a condo or an apartment, we think Saphy would do best in a home with a (secure) fenced in yard so that she can establish her routine and truly thrive.
Foster mom report:
Saphy is a very sweet girl who loves being around other dogs and patient humans. Saphy very much needs a home where a family can be very patient with her, to give her the space to learn to trust and integrate with your home. She had a tough start, so trust is a little difficult for her, but given the time and patience to acclimate and integrate, she’ll be her family’s BFF. She is also content to relax with her humans. She knows commands sit, come, wait and her name.
Saphy has learned leash manners and is generally great on the leash, although sounds that surprise her will send her into circles. These reactions can be alleviated with other dogs she can look to for modeling behavior and /or a calm human presence. She has gone on super fun nature walks with her foster mom and has done really well.
Saphy is crate trained and sleeps in a crate at night. She also loves having a comfortable dog bed space in a family room where she can retreat and also keep an eye on what’s happening. She is overall a healthy and happy dog, loves to play with other dogs or even run with her human(s). She is very agile and could benefit potentially from some agility training. She can jump fences, so a yard with fences at least 6 ft high would be necessary.
Saphy is not recommend for homes with younger children as their quick movements can startle her.
Saphy is in Seattle and available for a meet and greet following the review of the application.
