Amazing Lucas P Border Collie & Husky Mix Conroe, TX

Lucas is currently being fostered in Bellingham WA - but transport to Seattle is possible for approved applications. His adoption fee is $500 - which helps cover his care while in foster and he is fully vetted and healthy.

Lucas came to us like so many of our loves do, as a stray guy just wandering the streets of Houston all alone. Luckily, he walked out in front of his Guardian Angel one day who scooped him up and now he's ready for his Sweet Life!

Lucas is a roughly 9-month old Border Collie/Heeler Mix. He is a medium sized boy at around 45 pounds and he's pretty close to being done growing. He is an active boy who loves to run and play with other dogs. He's a bit shy at first, but if you give him a chance, he will be your best friend for life!

He has a pretty quiet demeanor, so he would be fine living in an apartment or condo setting that allows larger breed pets. His adoptive family should be prepared to provide him plenty of exercise. His favorite activities include going on walks, lay in the sun, play with his dog friends, and hang out
watching football with his foster dad.

He loves to go on adventures (especially if there are some drive thru fries involved), ride in the car, go on walks, but also loves a little snuggle time with his family. He would be best suited for a family that can ensure proper exercise and socialization.

Lucas has lived with a variety of other dogs both in foster in Houston and WA ranging from 8-80 pounds and has done really well with all of them. He would be great as a solo dog or as a member of a new pack – he has never met a dog he doesn’t love. He has not been tested with cats, but given his general disposition, we think he’d be fine with a kitty sibling if given a proper introduction.

Lucas has met and done great with kids and would make a great buddy for some kids who have been taught to be respectful of animals to grow up with.

Lucas is house and kennel trained, but he’s still working on his leash manners and just his general confidence. It's hard to leave your first real family and travel across the country to find your forever family.

The best suited family will be one that understands that dogs can take time to acclimate to their new homes - which will likely include having accidents, crying in their kennel, and chewing on things they are not supposed to. Lucas will be best suited for a family that can provide him with patience and positive reinforcement as he grows.

We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday.

Lucas is fully vetted and healthy. He is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. He does not have any health or allergy issues that we are aware of.
