Meet Amazing Big Tucker
Tuck spent the better part of 6 weeks protecting this pack from us. He would herd them away from us, push them away from the traps, push them out of traffic. He protected this pack, kept them all alive and safe for literally months. While super frustrating, it was also pretty magical to watch his instincts to protect his herd. After a few weeks of going out every day to earn his trust and failing miserably, we made the decision to have him darted so we could finally get him moving toward the life a special dog like this deserves.
Once home and settled, he blossomed into quite literally the most patient, amazing, soulful dog you could every hope to meet. He is loving, LOVES to give big Tuck hugs (better plant your feet b/c he’s a big guy!), and is amazing with every dog he has come in contact with. Tuck is going to make some family whole and love them with all his heart.
Tucker is ~3 years old and while he is a tiny bit standoffish at first meeting new people (people in the area were not nice to this big pack of roaming dogs), once given a minute to figure out you are good people, he’ll be in your lap!
Tuck has met and done fine with elementary aged kids, we think that is probably the youngest we would say is appropriate as we don’t have the capacity to test him with babies and toddlers. Tuck needs a family that gets how special he is, but also that he had a traumatic background and needs patience and love. Tucker has never shown an ounce of aggression or negative behavior toward anyone or anything.
Tucker is a pretty low-key guy, he likes a walk, some sunning in the yard, and then some nice nap time (preferably on the couch). If you are very lucky, he’ll sing you the song of his people, at the top of his little doggy lungs, which
Tucker is fully vetted (neutered, vaccinated, microchipped). He is still heartworm positive, but is on a slow kill protocol and doing great. The rescue will pay for his slow kill (topical) treatment until he is clear.
Tucker is currently located in Houston, but his foster dad plans to drive him to CO to his forever family. Tuck will be available for video-chats prior to finalizing the adoption.
