Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

Alyssa is a young Pyr mix who always has a smile on her face! Her foster mom describes her as a perfect girl with a big heart who would do great in any type of home. Alyssa, more of a petite girl, is a Pyrenees possibly mixed with Samoyed who was surrendered to rescue when her owner became very ill. This sweet girl gets along with everybody, loves to run around with other dogs, but is equally content to lay and play with her toys or chew on a bone. Did somebody mention toys? Alyssa loves toys! She walks great on a leash, but tends to hang behind her person until she gets to know them. And once she knows you, Alyssa can’t wait to cuddle into her humans for snuggles and belly rubs! She also loves to squish her face into small places, like the crack between the sofa cushions, and under your armpit so your arm is forced to hug around her. She knows her name and comes when called, rides fine in a car, is house broken, crate trained, loves any type of grooming, sleeps soundly through the night, and knows “sit,” and “down.” She’s fun to train because she is super food-motivated and desperately wants whatever treat is in your hand :) Alyssa is a medium energy dog who can be placed with children, cats, and other dogs. Her ideal home will have a doggie playmate to ease the transition, as she gets nervous by herself, but when with other dogs, she acts like them, offering lots of tail wags. Unlike most Pyrs, Alyssa rarely barks, but she’ll let out one here and there when she sees or hears other people and/or dogs near her home. She is a playful, bouncy, sweetheart of a pup with a fondness for starting various digging holes in the yard, giving nose boops to get pets, and offering little kisses! If you know how to whistle, Alyssa will be your captive audience, tilting her head back and forth, listening intently to your every note. This precious girl is ready to begin her furever life...is your family the one to welcome her into your home? If you would like to learn more about this precious girl and see her in action, check out her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvagb-ZLqzAeS-2-jApo73g?view_as=subscriber
