Meet Alfredo
Meet Alfredo, Alfie to his close friends. Alfredo came into St. Louis County Animal Control underweight and with an unusual gait.
Today he met with our favorite ortho specialists at VSC and it's been determined that Alfredo was struck on the left side and suffered trauma causing his pelvis to be pushed out of line.
The good news is that despite its healing crooked, he has no activity restrictions, is not in pain, nor are any of his organs damaged or in danger. He just has very funky-looking radiographs.
Alfie (Alfredo), a 3-year-old American Pitbull Terrier, is too sweet for his own good. He was rescued by K9EI just in the knick of time as he became urgent when X-rays showed a poorly healed disfigured pelvis causing a lame left leg.
Shelter staff members quickly rallied for his rescue because he charmed the pants off them. If it were up to him, he would run and play fetch all day and would love a backyard. And he’s more than ok with just chilling, too.
Right now he’s in a foster home in a city condo with 2 adults (male & female), 1 infant, and 2 fellow pitties (2-year-old male and 5-year-old female). He is very cuddly and loves to give kisses, kisses & more kisses. Very gentle with the baby.
Housebroken but you have to encourage him as he is a bit skittish outside in the city environment and prefers to come back in and snuggle. Walks fine on a no-pull harness. Knows basic commands. So far, has only barked once which sounds more like a cute screech. He is extremely food motivated which is not a bad thing at all, he could use it to gain a few! He does guard his food bowl but who wouldn’t after being starved for so long.
Has not been tested with cats, but does not chase small animals outside.
