____
Meet Alfie – a handsome, sweet, and goofy 2-year-old Mastiff/Bully mix with a heart as big as his puppy-dog eyes.
This 60-pound lovebug is currently in a foster home in HOUSTON TEXAS, and is ready to travel out of state once an approved adopter is lined up.
Alfie is the perfect combination of snuggly and spirited—he loves to play fetch in the yard, go for walks, and then curl up with his person under a warm blanket when the day winds down. He’s been described as a gentle giant who’s always ready for affection, but also enjoys having his solo time with his favorite toy. Whether he’s chasing a ball or happily cuddling up with you because he’s “cold” (yes, he’s that adorable), Alfie is always looking to be close to his people in his own loving way.
He is housebroken, crate-trained, and can comfortably spend several hours in his crate while his humans are away. On leash, Alfie walks well and enjoys exploring. He’s friendly with both people and dogs he meets along the way, though his excitement sometimes gets the better of him and he may pull a bit or try to initiate play by gently mouthing, especially with other dogs.
Alfie lives with other dogs and enjoys their company—especially dogs his own size who can match his playful energy. He can get a little carried away when playing and sometimes misses the signals that his pals are ready to take a break. He’s still learning those social cues and would do best with confident canine companions and a home that offers clear structure, supervision, and plenty of playtime outlets. He’s gentle with smaller dogs when playing, but supervision is always recommended given his size and enthusiasm.
While we don’t have history with cats, Alfie has been around older children and done well. However, due to his tendency to guard high-value items like toys or bones, we recommend a home with teenagers or adults only who understand how to respect a dog’s space. Alfie would do best in a home where kids won’t interrupt him when he’s enjoying a treat or focused on a favorite toy. Feeding and high-value items should be given with supervision, and separately from other pets, to set everyone up for success.
Alfie is treat-motivated, eager to please, and incredibly smart. His foster has been working with him on setting healthy boundaries, and he’s making great progress. Like many bully-breed mixes, he thrives in a home with consistent routine, clear communication, and positive reinforcement training. He would do best with an adopter who has experience with similar breeds and is committed to helping him continue to grow into the best version of himself.
He’s a smart, sensitive, and slightly stubborn guy who does best when he knows what’s expected of him and feels respected in return. His quirks are manageable with structure and understanding, and in exchange, he’ll give you endless loyalty, laughter, and love.
If you're looking for a loyal, playful, and affectionate companion who already has a solid foundation and just needs the right environment to truly thrive, Alfie may be your perfect match. With continued guidance and a little patience, this lovable boy will be an incredible lifelong friend.
