Meet Aiden - ADOPTED

Hello, Aiden is the name, affection is my game. I am a handsome 1.5 yr old male German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix. I weigh 50 lb and measure 23 inches to my shoulders and I am local for you to meet me. Check out my great smile.

The early part of my life includes a drama-filled rescue from the Middle East, when I was an emaciated, homeless pup about to be killed in a routine 'extermination' of strays. If my rescuer had not been so brave and resisted the demands of the officials to release me to them, I would not be here today to tell my story.

That's all behind me now and here I am in this wonderful place called Canada. Once I arrived in my new home, I was introduced to cats and I have to admit that I am not a fan! Nor do they like me. Unfortunately, this was impossible to know before I arrived, since I had never encountered these odd creatures. So my new home just didn't work, it was the kitties home first, after all.

So now I am staying with a foster family, while I look for a new home without cats. In fact, I think I would prefer a home where I could be the only dog too. After a past like mine, I long for the love and affection I never had, so once we are bonded, I don't want to have to share you with another dog.

I am hesitant when meeting dogs outside and can get easily excited. I tend to like having solitary walks without any other dogs. I can become spooked by fast moving things and it causes me to be hyper-alert.

I need a confident dog owner who can understand my reactive, (not aggressive) behaviour. Because of my reactivity, I am not the kind of dog you can take to off-leash dog parks or busy places and I therefore need to have a fenced yard to run freely. Time, consistency of routine, training and most of all love, should help diminish my reactivity and hyper alert attitude.

I would make a fantastic hiking buddy, if you're into that kind of thing. Or we could just walk and talk (You talk and I listen.) Later we could do this comfy snooze-in-front-of-the-TV thing that I have discovered since living in a home.

I am amazing inside the home. I tend to sleep for hours and love belly scratches. In fact, you can touch me anywhere, play with my ears, tail, whatever; I just adore it all. My foster family says I am the most affectionate dog they have ever known. I save all my energy for the outdoors and rarely even move when I’m on my favourite blanket. I also never beg for food at the table or the kitchen.

I just know we could be a great team. So how about it, are you my one and only? Please drop yer paw, er finger on that adopt button and we can be buds forever.

I am neutered, *vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $550 Canadian.

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.

Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.

The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.

Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website.

*Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. They are not given bordatella as that has not been a problem the Middle East.
