Meet Ahva

Ahva is ready to share her story! ♥

One of my favorite memories was when my family brought me home. Oh, they thought I was just the cutest thing ever! They loved me....held me....and promised me forever. For 6 years that was the case. We were a big ole happy family and I was truly happy. Then....one day it all went wrong. My mom suddenly was extremely sad. I kept waiting for my dad to walk back in the door. He would know how to make her feel better. But he never came. I waited and waited. I had no idea where he was, but I knew he had to come home....but he never did. Fast forward, and my mom and I had settled into a routine. We still missed my dad like crazy but we started to settle into what was now our life.

And then it happened again. Except for this time, my mom never came home. I was so confused. I kept waiting for her to come back. I had already lost one person that was my world. Why wasn't she coming back either? Her kids ended up coming to stay at the house and caring for me. But they had lives of their own. Pets of their own. As much as they wanted to, they just couldn't keep me. So, they started the search for a new home for me. The thing is, people tend to overlook the older dogs and it proved harder than expected. Then, they reached out to this rescue. I ended up having a foster family step up for me, and now I joined their fluffy butt family!

I miss my last family like crazy. I wish things could have been different. But it is important to keep looking ahead. For now, I have the chance to meet another great family and make a whole bunch of new memories with them. My name is Ahva and I am a 6-year-old, 92lb female Great Pyrenees. I am looking for a forever family, and I hope that you will consider me!

While I am super excited to find my forever family, I do not want to rush into anything. I want you and I both to be sure that we are a match! To help with that, I have filled out a questionnaire.

-How can someone adopt me?
The first step is to fill out an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to my foster family and they will help me decide if we are a match or not.

-Would I need to come to pick you up?
Yes, you would need to pick me up. This rescue does not send us on transports. It is less stress on us that way. Plus, you and I can already start bonding on the road trip home! ?

-Can I adopt you even though I don't live in Oklahoma?
Yep, I am not opposed to living in another state!

-How do you act when meeting new people?
Friendly and calm.

-What is your personality like?
Calm and laid back but I do get a little pep in my step when it’s time for my walk.

-Do you jump on people?
Never.

-Do you enjoy going places?
I have only been to the vet but did well there.

-Do you enjoy walks?
I love long walks. I have been walking 2-3 miles every morning and then a shorter walk in the afternoon.

-How are you on a leash?
I do great on a leash, but am the best when wearing a harness.

-How do you do on car rides?
I love car rides and ride well!

-Can I trust you to free-roam the house, even if I am away?
Absolutely.

-Where do you like to sleep at night?
Either in my foster mom's bed or on the couch.

-Do you chew?
Not at all.

-Are you potty trained?
Yes.

-Are you kennel trained?
I think so, but my foster family does not kennel me. I was raised with one in my previous home.

-Do you like to play fetch?
No.

-Do you like to play in the water?
I am unsure, I haven't really had the chance to yet.

-Do you play with toys?
No.

-Would you do okay living in an apartment?
Yes.

-Do you bark?
No, but I will give off one or two barks when someone knocks on the door.

-Are you good with other dogs?
Yes.

-How do you act around other dogs?
Curious.

-Are you good with cats?
Yes.

-Are you good with kids?
Yes, I am good with kids of all ages.

-Have you shown any signs of food aggression with other animals?
No.

-Have you tried to resource guard anything?
No.

-Can I hear what your foster has to say about you?
"Ahva is the best dog. Sweet, cuddly, calm, and caring. I didn’t know dogs could be this perfect. She needs love in return but is not needy about it. She adapts to what you can give. She can hold her bladder a long time, but we take her out several times a day. I’d want her to go to a home where she’s not alone most of the day and gets to go on walks. She’s calmly social and likes to just be by her people. Whoever adopts her, if they are in Tulsa, have built-in dog sitters for life because we would welcome her back anytime. "

-What are you looking for in your new family?

My ideal home is one where there are lots of cuddles and walks and I am allowed to sleep on the couch and bed. I would do great for someone who works from home because I am calm and do not bark much. I do well with cats and kids. I am just a big love.

-How much is your adoption fee?

My adoption fee is $225.

That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention
