The Pitbull Project by Hospice Hearts
Cinderella, or Ella for short, is our inaugural pittie for The Pitbull Project by Hospice Hearts! Each month, one pitbull who is set to be destroyed at an open-access shelter or animal control will instead find rescue.
The pitbulls are fully vetted (spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, tested for heartworm, etc.), and then enroll in a two week board and train boot camp to begin learning proper manners and basic training which will allow them to become breed ambassadors for the often misunderstood pitbull breed.
Eighteen-month-old Cinderella came to Hospice Hearts from the Humane Society of Southern Illinois where she was due to be euthanized because of space limitations. A simple twist of fate and Ella found herself instead on her way to Central Illinois.
Ella was found running at large in Southern Illinois, and was impounded by HSSI. To no surprise, Ella tested heartworm positive along with other minor health issues discovered by our vet. She has been started on her heartworm treatment.
She is now with a trainer for two weeks to develop proper manners and basic obedience after which time she will be available for adoption via Hospice Hearts. Ella is a sweet and loving girl with a beautiful smile and spirit. Her adopter should be committed to continuing to implement her newly learned skills and training once adopted.
Ella was granted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but we need your help to make her Cinderella story come true! Complete an adoption application online at www.hospicehearts.org. Our Pitbull Project dogs can be adopted for a $200 donation.
