Adopted!Winston's Story

Winston has been adopted.

This is a COURTESY POST.

Winston is an affenpinscher, who is a little larger than the standard size, at about 13lbs. He is between 8 and 10 months old, but will probably not get much bigger. As you can see from his pictures he is a very handsome fellow and looks more like a puppy affen then an adult affen. He can truly melt your heart with his eyes. As affens do not shed, he will need to be clipped every once in a while.

This little guy, who is currently in a foster home, had a hard start in life. We don't know the circumstances, since he was picked up as a stray in Annapolis, but someone was definely not kind to him since he is very shy. After being with his foster family for about a month, he still runs when anyone tries to pick him up. However, once caught, can be picked up and he loves to be on the couch or bed with his foster parents. He is not aggressive at all, since his fear seems to have manifested itself in flight, rather than fight. Although he is still fearful, he seems to be coming around and loves to give you kisses on the end of your finger and face in the morning. He will need a patient owner and a forever home where he can learn to trust people. He also needs a home with other dogs, who he adores and seem to give him confidence. His foster family has three dogs, and one other foster dog, of all shapes and sizes and he loves to play and just generally be around all of them. He also seems to be good with children, however, because of his size, he needs to be placed in a house with children over age 8. He is currently not housebroken, but his foster family is working with him on this.

If you want a dog that you can work with to come out of his shell and teach that humans can be loving, Winston is the dog for you. If you are interested in Winston, please contact his foster mom at sjirousekw@aol.com. He is being fostered through Affenpinscher Rescue and has already had all his shots (rabies and distemper), been microchipped and neutered. The fee for adoption with this organization is $350.
