Who is this fluffy beauty, you ask?

This is Addison, a 50-pound Chow/Shepherd mix whose weight seems to consist of mostly gorgeous brown fur. Found as a stray in Chicago, Addison has had a rough past. Intelligent, sweet, and loyal, Addison has adjusted well to home life and is ready to find her forever family.

Addison’s foster remarks that this 4-year-old is a quick learner, but can also be quite the scaredy-cat. Loud noises can cause her to hide under the table, and she will sometimes bark at strange sounds, though never excessively. A definite people dog, Addison wants to be by her human’s side at all times; in fact, because she likes receiving all of her people’s attention, she would do best as the only animal in the home.

This intelligent girl is housebroken and will pace to let you know she has to go out. She also sleeps quietly through the night in her crate (though getting her in the crate can sometimes require a few treats), and is not interested in chewing anything she isn’t supposed to. Addison shows little inclination to jump up on furniture, and will happily plop by her people’s feet wherever they may be.

Addison likes to be outside and would gladly hunt a squirrel or bird if given the chance. This means, however, that she can pull on her walks when she sees other creatures (dogs included), although she will continue to walk if you redirect her. Also, Addison does not require long walks— just a loop around the block or two should do.

The takeaway? If you are looking to rescue a dog that will always be by your side, Addison is your girl. Getting that fluffy tail of hers to wag, after all, is truly heartwarming.
