Meet Adam

Meet Adam!! Adam is a 20 pound Poodle? Shih-Tzu? or Terrier? mix of sorts who was recently rescued from a high kill shelter. Adam's story is a pretty sad one. He probably made it to the shelter and got some help not a moment too soon. We are told that a nice lady saw him on the street and came to the shelter to ask them if someone could go and get him When they told her that they could not, she went back to where he was and she took an hour of her time to gain his trust to bring him to the shelter. She cried when she handed him over. He was so happy to be with people again, and he was so well behaved when they did his intake..... cleaning his wounds and cutting the dirty hair to find his face. From the awful condition that he was in, plus testing positive for heart-worm disease, we don't think he would have lasted much longer on the streets However, this was a turning point for Adam. We offered rescue for him almost immediately. He went to a foster home where he was given all of the loving care he needed to recover. And now.... he is ready for transport to PA.
We are unsure of his breed. Indeed, only a DNA test will tell for sure. But we do know that he will require regular grooming so the ongoing expense should be taken into consideration when deciding if he is the right dog for you. We are also unsure of his age but a good, educated guess might be 4-5 years old? He may be younger. He does have a slight "cherry eye" in his right eye but the vets who saw him did not feel that is something that needs attention at this time. It is not painful or distressing to him in any way. It only needs to be monitored at this time. Surgical repair may be an option at some point in the future.
His foster mom in SC says that there are three words to describe Adam…happy, happy and happy!! He’s always wagging his tail, so much that his entire body wiggles. He loves everyone and every dog he meets. We are unsure as to how he is with cats at this time. So supervision with resident kitties would be required. Running around playing outside is Adam's second favorite thing to do because he'd rather be following his human around wherever they go. Adam is crate trained and potty-trained, too.
Adam has already been neutered and he is up-to-date with his vaccinations. He has recently been treated for heart-worm disease and he is well on the road to recovery. Adam is on preventatives and he is also micro-chipped. He is all "good to go". Now all that he needs is a home and we are hoping that he has an approved home to go to when he arrives on transport on January 29th.
Adam's suggested adoption donation is $350 in order to assist with the rescue's ongoing and ever-increasing vet bills. If you would like to submit an application to adopt or foster our Adam when he arrives on transport on Jan. 29th, you can do so by visiting our website at OneLifeToLiveRescue.com and getting started. A rescue volunteer will then be contacting you soon. Please ask about our ever popular "Foster-to-Adopt" option. Thank you for considering a wonderful, rescued Poodle /Terrier mixed breed dog!!
Adam has found his "forever" home!! He was "officially" adopted by his foster dad today and he will be spending the "happily-ever-after" part of his life in Taylor/West Scranton, PA!!
