Achilles Pit Bull Terrier & American Staffordshire Terrier Mix New York, NY

Achilles is an 8 year old neutered pit mix boy with a giant head as big as his heart! He is about 80 lbs but truly defines "gentle giant" with his easygoing nature, waggy tail, and excellent manners. Achilles was surrendered to our rescue when his family finally accepted he would do better in a home where he could get more attention, as they were a family of 5 living in a one bedroom apartment. When he came to our rescue, he was underweight, but with delicious food and extra love, he is back to a healthy size with great energy!

Despite being 8 years old, Achilles LOVES to play! He loves his toys, anything he can chew on, and can't resist grabbing a stick on his walk to proudly carry around. He is incredibly well-trained by his amazing, attentive foster parents. He is completely crate and bathroom trained, and knows the "place" command which keeps him calm and relaxed even in new situations. Achilles walks well on a leash, sometimes gets a little excited and needs to be reminded to slow down, but he does NOT yank you around and has excellent manners.

In his foster home, Achilles lives with other dogs and cats, including an ever-rotating assortment of foster kittens! He has been so chill and relaxed with all of them now that he is a healthy size and weight. When he was inadequately nourished, he once nipped at one of his cat siblings when he thought the cat was going for his food, but was able to de-escalate quicky!

- Rabies, distemper, lepto, lyme vaccines all up to date
- On flea and tick preventatives
- Taking Dasiquin for joint health
- POULTRY INTOLERANCE and must eat a food with different protein source, such as beef, lamb, fish, etc.
