Meet Ace
Meet Ace! Ace is the full German Shepherd experience packed into 45 pounds! This sweet boy was found as a stray covered in ticks and was very filthy. The local shelter cleaned him up and then he caught his freedom ride to join GSR!
Ace is a young boy just about a year old. He hasn’t met a human he doesn’t like! He can be a little possessive of his human friends, so he would need to be placed with a more tolerant dog, or as an only dog. He doesn’t seem to have a high prey drive so we think he would be fine with cats! Because of Ace’s likely unfortunate background, he does not like his back legs to be handled roughly and he is shy about tummy rubs. For those reasons being in a home with children 15 years of age or over is recommended.
Ace is quick to love but actions like brushing and paw wiping take a little extra time to build trust. He is an active dog that requires daily exercise or would love a job to do! Ace has excellent recall outdoors, is learning to walk well on a leash, knows several commands (sit, down, no) and maintains great eye contact. Ace is crate trained and is excellent about going into his crate when he receives the command and point (he does NOT like to be shoved). Ace is about 95% there with his potty training (the crate really helps!) and has excellent house manners (no counter surfing and has stayed off furniture when told).
Ace has beautiful fur and tolerates brushing for several minutes at a time (as long as he’s being pet as well – ha!). Ace is just learning that he likes a dog bed and some squeaky toys (he still is confused why we would throw a ball and look at him though). As a typical GSD, Ace wants to be with his humans constantly and hopes you don’t mind him as your happy shadow as well as face kisses!
