Meet 7621 Russell- I'm a SSNAP Dog

Update: Russell was diagnosed with DCM in June 2024 and has started treatment. His recent follow-up Holter monitor results looked great, and he continues on the same medication. Russell's beautiful heart doesn't stop him from still wanting a forever home.

Russell, a striking fawn male with natural ears and a docked tail, has been with us since 2021 and has come a long way since his early days at the shelter. He originally arrived at DRU after his owners became overwhelmed with multiple male dogs in the home.

Initially, Russell was confused and unsure, but once he connected with his first human friends, his true personality began to shine. Physically strong and confident, Russell used to have his way, but he has come to appreciate structure and boundaries. He's learned to calm himself and now enjoys quiet "down time" in his crate.

Russell would do well with an experienced and confident handler who can continue his training. He's crate trained, loves toys (especially his jolly ball), and is full of energy! A fenced yard is essential for him. While he may be okay with cats and a female dog, his high energy and anxiety around passing cars suggest that a home without young children would be best.

Russell is ready for a new life in a loving home that can match his playful spirit and provide the structure he thrives on.
