Meet Whiskers! Whiskers is extremely outgoing and friendly. He'll come greet you at the door and will ask about your day. He loves to play, yet likes his down time where he'll join you on the couch for a nap session. Whiskers manages to find entertainment in just about anything. Recent playmates of his include his own shadow and a ball of tape. However, the true love of Whisker's life is his tail. He'll spend hours chasing it and will never give up! Sweet Whiskers is hilarious and he knows it. When you start laughing because of something he just did, he'll pause and look at you, and then will resume just to make you laugh again. Popular pastimes also include napping in the sun in a wide variety of contorted poses and once-a-day, late-night zoomies. To top off Whiskers's pawsitively purrfect personality, he is also a very clever cat. He knows his name and has learned sit during his short time with his foster family. Whiskers is a true joy and cannot wait to find his furrrever home!
If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model).
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.
Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
