Meet VAN GO!

MEET VAN GO!

This special and beautiful boy recently joined City of Elderly Love as a semi-senior after originally finding his way into Philly's animal control shelter six years ago. Van Go has unfortunately been adopted and returned since then and is about 7 now. As a kitten before entering the shelter, he suffered a spinal injury and has lingering issues due to the trauma though no one is sure what this poor guy went through as just a baby. He may be considered special needs as a result, but his award-winning personality and love of people makes him so worth it!

Van Go is about as sweet as can be. He loves his human buds and is very affectionate. He'd do great as a companion for someone who is looking for a snuggly pet. He purrs and begins kneading his paws like he's getting ready to make a pizza the second he sees you coming! And though it's because he was injured as a kitten, his little bob-tail just adds to his overall cuteness! Van Go has proven to prefer quieter homes without other pets or young kids who stress him out. He promises to be more than enough for one lucky family!

While his vets originally didn't know if Van Go would ever be able to go to the bathroom without assistance due to this injury, he made a miraculous recovery and began using the litter box on his own at around 4 months old! Though Van Go does have decreased muscle function in his hind-end and may have the occasional "poop accident" outside of the litter box without even realizing it, usually on his cat bed. He currently takes a medication called Gabapentin which helps with long-term pain and helps with the litter box issues. He's hoping to find the perfect home with a family who will embrace his quirks and see that he's been through so much and is so deserving of love.

Van Go is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love! He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also FIV/FeLV negative. Interested in adopting him? Visit www.cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!
