Meet Tux

Hi, I'm Tux! There is a man living at Desert Haven named Alan (he's handsome and helpful) and one day he was coming home from work and he spotted me outside near his home (I wanted to be noticed!). Alan was concerned about me so he acted quickly by calling the Desert Haven people. Then everyone was concerned about me (there are good people in the world!) and so they set out a have-a-heart trap with yummy tuna and I was safe within a couple of hours time. Thanks to Alan and the Desert Haven team!

I was soon taken to the veterinarian for an exam and even though I had been out in the wild (how in the heck did that happen?!?!) I was deemed to be in tip-top shape (I knew that already). I was brought up-to-date on vaccinations and I got a neuter surgery (youchie) and I recovered beautifully.

Back to that age old question with a "stray" (ugh what a gross word to be called--spay and neuter your pets, people!!): How in the world did I end up on my own in the wild?

Well, I can't verbally tell the Desert Haven people my story because I don't speak English (they should really learn to speak Meow). But there are a few kind souls that are listening to me when I speak my "cat body language" to them.

Here is what they understand about me so far by interpreting my body language and what they see me doing, and honestly these attentive people are not too far off the truth: I have been someone's cat. But I am so very frightened right now. It was really a terrible and traumatic event to be in the wild on my own. I sought out help and took it immediately when it was offered to me. I hide sometimes because I'm still so worried about the harshness or neglect I've experienced with some people in my past. But I will already allow some gentle petting at Desert Haven without lashing out or hurting anyone. I am a great cat in a scary world. But I have hope!

I will need a patient and loving family and a quiet and calm home. I know it's out there! Is it yours? Love, Tux
