Meet Travato (FeLV+)
Travato is a sweet gray tabby kitten who was found and brought to the refuge. She was seen at the refuge vet, weighed just 1.8 pounds, and diagnosed with a missing eyeball, probably from birth or from a herpes infection. She will receive antibiotics and be well fed at the refuge until she is well and ready to be adopted, which we hope will happen soon. Come see this baby that needs loving care now and consider fostering her until she is well enough to adopt.
Approx. DOB: 04/27/2022
Please be aware that we have a policy of not adopting out kittens until they are 4 months old, and then only to families with no children under the age of six years. We require that kittens be adopted in pairs until they are 5 months old, as they are very bonded to their siblings and can become quite depressed and stressed due to the separation. Kittens must be at least 9 months old before they are adopted into homes with children under the age of six years.
Interested in adopting a Goathouse cat or kitten? Then please start by completing the following steps required in our screening process:
1) Complete our online adoption application: Visit www.goathouserefuge.org/adoption-application/ to get started!
2) Arrange to visit the cat(s) in person: Please check our website for current visiting hours at our Pittsboro refuge. If your application indicates an interest in a cat currently in foster or at Cat Tales Cat Cafe, we will inform you on steps to take to arrange a cafe or foster visit.
3) Complete a home visit: Once you confirm that you've visited in person with the cat(s) of interest and completed the online application, your responses will be reviewed by the refuge staff so that a volunteer member of our home visit team can contact you to schedule a visit. Only after a representative of the refuge has visited the applicant's home will the refuge consider continuing with the adoption process.
