Meet Tortellini

My name is Tortellini. I have had a hard start to life. I was abandoned on the streets to fend for myself and the victim of physical abuse.
Now, in a safe home with food, safe places to sleep and no hitting, I am starting to learn to trust and love again. Every day, every week, i get braver and more confident. I used to run at the sounds the house made. The washing machine or my foster Hooman walking up and down the stairs. Now I am used to them and don't run. Before I used to wait to be fed. Now, I will wake my Hooman up when I am hungry and tell him to hurry up when preparing my food. I am not a big talker, but I talk much more now that I am comfortable.

I want to love and be loved, but am still learning to trust again. I will let you pick me up but don't want to be held. Instead, I like to roll over and have my belly rubbed. I freaking love belly rubs! Or lie on my side on the floor and be petted from head to tail. I do the most adorable rolls and stretches on the floor. And on occasion I am even partial to paw massages.
While I'm not yet a lap cat, I do like to sit on the floor near my foster Hooman. In time this may change, but until then I like to sit by my foster Hooman and nap on the floor, or under the table or by the couch.

I do like to play and have started many a battle with my foster Hooman's cord for his phone charger. I have a hard time resisting string and I like to DE sleeve straws. I give them a good pummeling. In another positive sign that I have put the past beside me, I am continuing my education and double majoring in Palmetto bug hunting and Palmetto bug combat. I'm acing the latter, but not so good in the first. They run under doors and furniture which I think is cheating. And the Cold weather has seen them disappear. Which I also think is cheating.

I get along with other kitties, and would get along great with calmer dogs and children who know how to respect my need for space sometimes.

I have some way to go still. I am scared when strangers come to the house and hide. But I am working on it. I am an immaculate cleaner and my foster tells me I might be the cleanest cat he has ever seen. My litter box etiquette is flawless and while might not be exactly what you are looking for, I don't put a paw wrong. I am such a sweet, gentle little girl and I hope someone gives me a chance!

Thank you for reading.
