Meet TonkaTaT 7 weeks old
Tonka is a special one. Take the time to read the book I'm about to write here, it's worth the time to read it. ..... Tonka's Mom came to us pregnant. She was a trailer park cat out of Newville, PA. Mom was super pregnant and a week after coming into rescue she gave birth to 4 babies .. Tonka was the runt of her litter, only half the size of the others. Her head is big and wide. It looks like she ran head first into a wall and smashed her face in flat. Her forhead is too big. Her eyes are beady and too close together. SHE IS PERFECT! Remember the tough Tonka trucks kids played with years ago? Well, that is how Tonka got her name > she is Tonka Tough!~ About a week after birth, as I was out doing home visits for dogs, Tonka's Momma cat accidentially laid on her. When we got home Tonka was barely moving/incredibly weak. Tonka was so weak she couldn't even latch on to nurse. We started feeding her kitten milk replacement and within 48 hours she was back to normal. Then at about 5 weeks when Momma cat started to reduce their feedings (she was getting them to eat moist foods) Tonka again had a problem because her swallowing reflex wasn't at the same stage as her siblings so we started syringe feeding her baby foods. Tonka soon got the hang of swallowing and has done great ever since then .. Tonka is still only half the size of her siblings BUT let me tell ya, she is one tough little girl. Tonka will wrestle with her big siblings and pin them down. Tonka may be little but she has the heart of a lion and the gentleness of a butterfly .. I have spent so much time loving on this little girl and I am so jealous of the people who get to adopt her. I'm not a cat person and neither is my Husband but Tonka has easily wrapped us around her tiny paw. I will miss her beyond words. I will miss the adorable giant leaps she makes to jump on me/pounce my hand. I will miss her staring into my eyes as she falls asleep nestled up against me at night. I want her future owners to know that I cover her with my blanket as she sleeps and she loves that. She still fits into my one hand and she likes to lay in my palm, belly up toward the ceiling and I gitchy her tummy. At times, she just likes to lay in the palm of my hand and reach up to touch my face with her soft, tiny paws or kiss my nose .. Tonka is obcessed with my laptap and she loves attacking the moving objects on the screen. If it sound like I'm really in love with this little furbaby, I am .. but, I rescue and I can't keep her. I want someone who will love my little Tonka Tat with all their soul and always make her feel special. She may look a little odd but she is unique, rare and a total gift from God. In my eyes, she is beyond perfect. It is truly impossible not to love her!~? I'll soon post pictures and Tonka will be up for adoption at 8 weeks after she gets her first shots ... We are only doing adoptions within a 50 mile radius of Shippensburg, PA .. A home visit and contract is mandatory. Spaying is mandatory when old enough.
