Tommy (FeLV+) Domestic Short Hair Cincinnati, OH

Tommy was a stray that a kind-hearted person took pity on and started to feed. He warmed up quickly to her and she finally coaxed him into her house so he could start living the good life. She set up a vet appointment so he could get tested, vaccinated, and neutered. This is where her plan unraveled when his triple snap test revealed he was FeLV+ and therefore a risk to her other cat. She was heartbroken at the thought of giving Tommy up but realized a life of confinement to a small room was not what she wanted for him either. She brought him to the shelter in hopes that he could find companionship with our other FeLV cats, and eventually a home of his own.

Tommy is the most gentle creature, even if he looks like a bruiser. He gets along well with the other cats in his room, particularly Barney, but desperately wants human companionship as well. He seeks out affection when the volunteers enter his room.

Seems like he would be gentle around children and does not mind the energetic shelter dog who occasionally visits the rooms.

He’s an all-around awesome cat whose only drawback is that he’s contagious to other cats. Would be happy as an only-cat or to live with another positive FELV cat.
