Meet Taz

Taz is a handsome 11-year-old independent guy looking for his forever home. He is a Tuxedo long-haired cat with white mittens and a thin mustache.

For a lot of the day, Taz is a big couch potato who has his favorite spots to sit and nap. He can have a goofy side where he likes to chase his own tail or a wand toy. He also loves to bat his favorite toy mouse and ball on the ground. He is independent and does not require much affection from his owner, but he does appreciate pets, especially on his head and upper back. Sometimes he can be hot and cold about too much petting at once, and he will swat you or maybe attempt a bite. Once you get accustomed to Taz’s preferences and his body language, it’s easy to tell when he has had enough of you and it’s time to let him get back to napping. Taz does not like to be held or sit in your lap, but he often likes to sit next to you on the couch while you watch TV.

Taz is on a prescription diet (Hills m/d) and he has been started on anxiety medication (which he eats in his food). He was very skittish when he came into foster care, and the anxiety medication has helped a lot to get him out of his shell and living his best life.

He is declawed on his front paws. He uses the litter box perfectly. Because he has long hair, he would benefit from regular brushing to help with keeping your house free of Taz-hair tumbleweeds and to avoid hairballs.

He chats back to you if you talk to him and will meow to let you know when he is hungry or wants to play. He purrs up a storm when you pet him and when he is about to get fed.

Taz would be happiest as the only pet in a household. He lives with 2 adults and a resident cat. Taz and the resident cat coexist but they do not really enjoy each other’s company. He will likely do better with someone who has had a cat before and who understands cat body language. He would do best in a quiet home without young children. He would be fine to be left alone during the day while his family is out at work or school, but he’s also a good coworker for someone who works from home.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate.

Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.
