Take Off's Story

Take Off is a handsome 3-year-old dude looking to cruise into his forever home! He's a pro at giving you looks full of attitude but is truly a playful lovebug.

This charming fellow is playful and likes to hang around near or cuddle with his foster. He will watch your back when you're busy with tasks like doing the dishes, so be mindful where you step! He enjoys playing in the cat tunnel, ball track toys, kicker toys, wand chasers, and of course catnip. Shortly after initiating pets he will plop down and show his belly. He likes a bit of belly rubs and really seems to like chin scratches.

His foster works from home and he enjoys relaxing in the spot normally occupied by a keyboard so he can partially rest on the foster's arm and get pets. He can be a purring machine and enjoys lap cuddles sometimes. He'll also cross his front paws when resting like a distinguished gentleman.

Take Off is a medium-energy cat who enjoys lots of stimulation and interactive playtime with throwing toys (any catnip toys, balls, or springs) and wand chasers. He would do best in a home with forever humans who work from home or are around a lot, so he can get sufficient attention and cheerfully keep his people company. It is recommended that he is not in a home with kids unless they are older and able to understand cat cues. Take Off typically prefers to initiate pets and would rather you avoid petting his low back. Having various fun, engaging playthings around the house will help distract and redirect him from treating hands and feet as toys. This behavior has improved greatly since being in foster care, and that behavior is more frequently seen when he's warning you he's had enough pets. He needs to be in a home with a feline friend and he would likely not be a good fit with a small, shy or easily scared cat since he's a larger cat and likes to wrestle. A larger, chill, confident, friendly cat who likes to play would be a better fit. (He's never met a dog before.)

This lovely boy had a vet stay 2 days after coming into care for a urinary blockage, so he's on prescription urinary food and his litter box needs to be monitored to ensure he's urinating normally. He gets medications/supplements mixed in with his wet food twice a day to help him with anxiety and stress, which are important to manage with his history of urinary issues along with his back sensitivity.

It took some time for Take Off to build trust with his foster and will likely require patience, love, and compassion with his forever humans to do the same. Coming from such a rough start, Take Off really needs love, and just has to gain the confidence and tools to channel his energy and realize that so many people can be good and kind. He has come a long way in foster care! He is quicker to approach new people in the home, get closer with other cats (he's recently been joined by foster duo JJ & Lucien), and seek cuddles, which has been awesome to see. If you're ready to launch into an adventure of kindness, growth, and compassion, please consider adding Take Off to your family.
---
Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow-up visits.
