Meet Squirt - Deaf

Have you ever heard a deaf cat cry with loneliness? Squirt's life has been a journey, and she is eager for a happily ever after. She originally came into our rescue six years ago, after her owner passed away. Tyson's Place Animal Rescue's mission is to assist terminally ill people with finding new families for their pets, including after the owner has passed away. Thankfully, Squirt was adopted into a family where she thrived for years.

Unfortunately, at the age of 10, her family has decided they no longer want her because she now meows loudly, and she found herself homeless at the local animal shelter. She was microchipped to our rescue, and we received a call once she arrived at the shelter and were able to quickly pick her up. We quickly got her to the vet for tests to see if there was a medical reason for her loud meowing. Full bloodwork, x-rays, an ultrasound, and a urine check showed that she is completely healthy. It was then that we discovered that she is deaf, and like a typical deaf cat, she can't regulate the volume of her meow.

We were disheartened to think that her deafness caused her to lose her home. We think it just makes her extra special, and she only talks when she wants to be pet and sit in laps - her favorite activities. This is not a cat that will keep you up at a night with a meow or is talking all the time - she only talks when she is saying please love me! She loves to settle in your lap while you watch Netflix or read a book.

She loves to be pet and has a rare super soft velvet fur and gorgeous eyes. She enjoys her cat nip mouse and loves canned food. She just wants to be loved by people and prefers to be the only pet. She may, with a lot of time and patience, adjust to life with a calm dog, she does not like other cats. She has excellent litterbox habits.

Now, we are looking for both a foster and adopter for her. What does fostering mean? It means you provide the temporary home and love for Squirt while we provide all the supplies and vet care until she is adopted. Fostering costs you nothing but gives her a chance to decompress and be loved in a normal family environment just like she is used to have in her life.

Squirt is fixed, current on vaccinations, and had full bloodwork. She is a healthy 10 year old cat. She is deaf but this doesn't prevent her from living a full life. When she meows, she is loud because she can't regulate her volume, and we would love an adopter who appreciates her chatting. If you are interested in fostering or adopting her, please email tysonsplacerescue@gmail.com or fill out an adoption or foster application - both are available at tysonsplacerescue.org
