Meet Sooty

Meet Sooty, a fluffy gray tiger with a bear-like face and golden eyes that look right at you. He is approximately 5 months old.

This quiet, shadowy guy has a semi-feral past and is ready to enjoy a sweet life indoors. He's still learning to trust humans, so a cat-savvy home where he can settle in at his own pace would be ideal for him.

Sooty came to Alley Cat Project with his sister Sheba from a feral colony. He has been in foster care for three months and has come a long way to accepting humans but is still learning.

Sooty is a shy yet sweet and healthy kitty with good litter box manners. Sooty's favorite place to be is behind a cat tree or in a cubby hole—wherever he can be undisturbed but still watch the goings-on. He hisses and finds a safe place when his foster mom approaches, but he is showing progress—especially when DaBird toy comes around. Sooty enjoys interactive play and will need that in his new home. He loves all flavors of Churu treats and will lick them right off your fingers.

Sooty is not yet comfortable being picked up; but hopefully, his new people will help him grow to be their sweetheart. Sooty would do best in a home with a friendly, confident kitty who can tolerate his shyness and maybe help him go all the way to knowing the niceties of human love and touch. In the right home, he will continue to build trust and confidence.

What Sooty is looking for in a home:
- He needs a kind and patient guide to help him continue adjusting. Loud noises, sudden movements, and strangers make him nervous. (Don't expect a howdy-do when you meet him.)
- He’ll need extra time and TLC to build trust.
- He needs a young, confident feline companion who will tolerate his shyness.
- He has lots of kitten energy and will benefit from plenty of active play time.
- He feels at ease in a quiet and calm environment.
- He needs to live indoors only.
- He has no known history with dogs.
- He has no known history with children.

All Alley Cat Projects cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption.
