Snow was found as a stray in Waverly, Iowa. He was injured and in bad shape. He has been at a vet office for a month now and has made a great recovery! We are so happy he is doing better! Snow's injury on his leg has healed. One of his ears was so frostbit that part of his ear had to be removed. He did not have a microchip or get claimed. He is a Waverly Pet Rescue kitty now. Snow is now up to date on shots, tested FeLV negative, and neutered. Snow is FIV positive. He would do well as an only cat or other FIV + cats. If we find out he is good with other cats, he can live with any cat. FIV is transmitted by mating or deep bites.

Snow is about 8-years old as of March 2022, Snow still looks rough but those are the look of a cat that is a survivor. He could have perished on the streets of Waverly but during the cold and snow, he found a cat loving human and she helped him. Snow is the sweetest most chill cat ever. He loves to be petted and loves all attention you give him. He is grateful for this 2nd chance at life and you can feel this when he looks at you. He still has a long life ahead of him since cats can live to be 20 or more with high quality food and yearly wellness check-ups at the vet. He has not been around other cats yet or dogs. I do think he would be ok around children and would enjoy their company.

5/27/22: We recently tested Snow's thyroid level and in that same test there is a kidney value test that's included. His thyroid level was normal but his SDMA(kidney value) was elevated. High normal would be 14 and his value is 24. This is the first indicator on bloodwork of kidney disease. We will be starting him on a prescription food called k/d early support to hopefully ward off any future problems for as long as we can! We will recheck his bloodwork in 3 months. Also, Snow does well with dogs! And he really loves puppies!

Snow's adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $250 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office
