Smokey Joe is a declawed Maine Coon mix sure to dampen loneliness and stoke love in your heart! Smokey Joe loves to bask in the sunshine, snooze on his heated blanket and spend time near his humans or in their laps. Smokey Joe is also leash trained and appreciates backyard explorations and bird-watching on the deck in the summer and fall. But don't let his age fool you, he still fancies chasing lasers and batting around catnip-filled toys when the playful mood strikes.

Looking to open your heart and home to a special needs senior? Then Smokey Joe might be the purrfect addition to your family! Smokey Joe has diabetes and requires a low dose of insulin twice daily ($30 per month for insulin). He is also on a high protein, non-prescription diet ($45/mo) that enables him to live his best, regulated senior life.

Smokey Joe has done well with older, lower-energy feline and canine friends and would also do well in a home with no animals where he gets to reign as king of his kingdom. He's also mostly deaf. He doesn't get startled easily and it really doesn't affect anything, but he just can't hear when you're coming/going.

Smokey Joe's ideal new pet parent would be someone who has experience caring for diabetic and/or senior kitties or someone who has a strong willingness to learn about how to care for him. His foster family will be happy to answer any questions and provide guidance pre- and post-adoption.

Cats are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption.
