Simon and Garfunkel - "Old friends ...sat on their park bench like bookends....wishing they were homeward bound, home where their love lies waiting." These are lyrics from songs by Simon and Garfunkel and are most fitting for these sweet boys! Simon and Garfunkel are the most loving boys but they do have a very sad story. They evacuated with their previous family to a motel during Hurricane Harvey but the family must not have been able to take them after their stay because they left them in the motel and animal control was called. The animal control officer went to get them and they ran up to her purring and desperate for love. They were then impounded and put into a dog run where they got to run around with the dogs to get exercise. They were there for a few months and put up with a lot of noise from the dogs! SCP volunteers were contacted because they are so special and immediately fell in love with them. They are amazing and truly deserving of a forever home. They purr non-stop and love affection. They are great with both cats and dogs. They are absolutely bonded to each other and need to be adopted as a pair. Simon is a very “portly” fellow so is on a diet to lose weight; Garfunkel has a heart murmur but feels fine although he may need medication down the line. These are special boys who have been through quite a lot over the past few months. They are looking for a new family to love - maybe that could be you? Second Chance Pets is a foster-based organization so all animals live in foster homes throughout the area. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Petco Clear Lake store located at 2410 Bay Area Boulevard (at Space Center.) The adoption fee starts at $95. All cats are tested for FIV and Leukemia, fully vaccinated, fixed, dewormed, defleaed, and microchipped.
