Sebastian's Story

Introducing Sebastian, a 7.5-year old domestic shorthair! When Sebastian came to us, he struggled to adapt to his new environment. Initially, he stayed hidden on high shelves and was wary of people approaching him. However, he has made remarkable progress recently, showing increased confidence, exploring the catio, and enjoying pets from our staff and volunteers. Now, he is a mellow guy who gets along well with other cats and spends his time surveying the catio or sleeping on a perch. While he enjoys his naps, you might catch him playing when he thinks nobody is watching. Sebastian would do best in a quiet household with someone who can offer him patience as he grows more self-assured and settles into his new life. Stop by our Marathon campus to meet Sebastian and let him win you over with his gentle charisma!

Florida Keys SPCA's Adoption Policy
We have 2 locations that pets may be adopted from. One in Key West and one in Marathon. Please note which location the pet is located at before going to that location when interested in adopting. For any questions, please call us directly. We ask that adopters look at our available animals online or do a meet & greet at the shelter and once they have decided on a pet they are interested in, they complete an adoption questionnaire. They then meet with an adoption counselor to ensure it is a match for both the animal and the person interested, as well to discuss the animal's history, health and current needs or behaviors if known. If the adopter has a dog and is adopting another dog, we do a meet & greet between the two dogs on neutral grounds. If it is determined this is a good match, the adopter completes their paperwork, pays the adoption fee and takes the animal home.
