Meet Samuel Bernard
Sam also adores running water, and will hop in the tub to beg for a bit of warm water to be turned on to lick up. His current foster has found that he loves the kitty fountain she bought for him. This fellow lived for many years in a cat colony before being rescued and taken in by one of the fosters in our cat rescue group. As a result of surviving in that environment, Sam has learned to be the alpha cat of any group, and can be overly dominant with male and female cats alike. He would do best as an only cat, who can get all of his forever human's love, attention and patience.
Being picked up is not his favorite thing so will try to advise you to put him down with gentle bites. Boxes, kitty towers, and cracked windows are all wonderful; closed doors are not. He seems to do best with a higher quality wet food and dry kibble. Because he loves to hunt and will try to find munchies, his foster leaves him little dry morsels around to find, and changes those locations to keep him interested! He isn't fond of carriers and feet (he might have been kicked when out in the wild), so he does best with a front loading backpack carrier.
This amazing gentleman simply needs a bit of patience to meet his special personality without expectations of changing him. Sam Sam is an awesome cat who brings a lot of love with his royal demands, a creature of habit. It would be best if his forever person was someone who was able to engage him daily with attention and regular snacks, perhaps home often and able to keep him as an only cat or perhaps with a non-reactive dog who doesn't mind cats checking out their food bowl. Samuel Bernard is super cute, playful and friendly. He only wants love, to be played with and spoiled rotten. If your heart is full of love for a lion king, Samuel Bernard is your guy!
Samuel Bernard has tested positive for FIV (the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), but he is in excellent health and will likely have a normal lifespan as an indoor-only cat. The virus can't be passed to dogs or to people, and only to other cats through a deep bite wound. He needs to be your one and only kitty.
Samuel Bernard is neutered, tested negative for FeLV, microchipped, vaccinated, and includes a free wellness vet visit with our vet partners. To meet Samuel Bernard in foster, submit an adoption application for consideration at CatRescues.org/Adopt or a paper copy available at the store. A volunteer will contact you within 3-5 days for a possible meet and greet. The $70 adoption fee allows us to continue to provide care and find loving homes for abandoned and neglected cats in our Eugene/Springfield community.
