Samson was found as a stray in Hudson, Iowa. Waverly Pet Rescue took him in because he went unclaimed and his time was up. He is now up to date on shots, tested FeLV / FIV negative, and neutered.

6/11/19: He had a full exam with our vet and he does not have any concerning issues other than an ear infection that has been treated. He needs to go back in 2 weeks to get them re-checked. Samson has a slight kitty cold right now that is already getting better with medication. He doesn't seem to be able to meow. Maybe that will get better as he does. His meow comes out as no sound. He also does not have any teeth. Not sure why that is. He should eat canned food or small pellets of dry.

Samson is about 6-years old as of June 2019. He is the sweetest most affectionate cat ever. He would let you pet him all day if you had time. He loves to rub against your legs, rubs his head on your hand, he wants to touch and be near you. Samson is intelligent. When my daughter patted the sofa, he jumped up. When we call for him with "Kitty, kitty", he comes running. Samson is a large boy and oh, that tail! It is so fluffy! He does have one ear that is disfigured. No idea what happened to it. But it makes him look even more unique and handsome.

We have not had him around other dogs or young children yet. He does well around my older kind cat loving daughters. He accidentally briefly met a couple of cats and did ok. He just sniffed their noses and walked away. No hissing at all. So it is possible if you already have a cat, if set up properly he would be ok with them.

Samson's adoption fee is $95.00.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
