Meet Samantha "Sam"

Samantha "Sam" is a bewitchingly sweet little cat! She is still working on her confidence, so she is looking a forever human who will be patient with her while letting trust and a deep bond develop. She wants someone to help her feel safe and confident, and who she can provide love and companionship to in return.

Sam is a very cautious girl with humans and generally won’t let you get too close until she's had a chance to observe you to make sure you're safe. That being said, she enjoys being near you and will let you pet her after you've sat quietly for a few minutes (sooner when treats are involved). She has to make sure everything us safe, which makes sense with how her life began. Sam will be an absolutely magical cat for the right person.

Sam does very well with the litter box and using the scratching posts. She loves to sit in the window and watch the world go by, or curl up like a little shadow under our reading chair. She is also fond of a "cave" bed that's shaped like a pineapple, as well as sitting next to the big scratching post. When she comes out to greet people she's familiar with (and fond of), she holds her tail high and stares up into your eyes with such a loving expression. She will nuzzle your hand and enjoys being petted.

Sam gets along with other cats, but just takes a bit to warm up to them - she will keep her distance and be a bit hissy and/or skittish if they come bother her. She could be bullied by more dominant, aggressive, or rough cats and would do better with a calm, friendly, laid back, or aloof cat. We have two medium-large dogs and one small dog that she is not fond of. She does not want to be in the same room as them and will hide if she has to be. We do not feel she would do well with children. She needs a calm household.

Sam started off her life as part of a stray cat colony located in a wooded area behind a very busy gas station. We responded to a call to help four kittens, but discovered several other adult cats, including Sam. Based on our observations, Sam was not the mother of the kittens, but was possibly a sibling from a previous litter based on how she behaved with the kittens and the other adult female cat. Sam was so sweet and would run up to us when we went to put the food out to trap - we couldn't touch her, but she'd be right there with us, making her signature unwavering eye contact.
After coming home with us as a foster, it is safe to say that Sam was terrified by the change, but she was so polite and never hissed, scratched, or bit us. She has come such a long way in the last four months as our foster and is at the point where she would benefit from being able to bond with her forever person.

Sam is spayed, current on Rabies and FVRCP vaccines (next boosters due 3/2026), and current on Nexguard Combo flea/tick/internal parasite prevention.

Sam's adoption fee is $75, or $100 total if you want to bring Samantha AND a friend for her home.
