Ruger's Story

Ruger is a follower and admirer. He is a supporter of anyone that wants to take the lead, except when it comes to insects! Ruger does not give full loyalty to bugs! His leadership skills come forward as he pursues, chases and drives them away! After the hunt Ruger settles down to allow his human companion to brush his coat and get his buff-colored hair back in place. He will be aloof and bashful in a new environment but with time Ruger will take to being petted, picked up and held. His ideal home is with an individual, couple or family. Ruger has been around other cats and really takes to and looks up to his littermate Remington. He is acquainted with a small dog and should be okay with larger canines. Ruger is a buff tiger tabby with a long coat. As of April 2025, Ruger is 7 months old. His adoption fee is $70.<br/> Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
We all spend a lot of love, time and money on these animals and want to see them go to good, permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to take care of them. OUR ADOPTION FEE is $180.00 WE ABSOLUTELY REQUIRE THAT ALL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS PROVIDE VET REFERENCES SO WE CAN CALL AND DETERMINE THAT ANY PAST OR EXISTING ANIMALS IN THEIR CARE ARE BEING KEPT UP TO DATE ON VACCINATIONS, PREVENTATIVES AND ARE SPAYED/NEUTERED. The reason for this is that we want to make sure that our animals are going to a home where they will be safe and healthy and be kept up to date on vet care. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this protocol so when you ask for a vet reference, they know what you mean. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS UNDERSTAND THAT ADOPTING AN ANIMAL IS A LONG TERM COMMITMENT AND THAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF TAKING CARE OF AN ANIMAL LONG TERM. Also we need to establish that any potential adopter has a safe, fenced yard; and will provide shelter for the animal. We also want to ensure that they know how to introduce a new animal into their home, to their existing pets, to children, etc. We require all of our animals to be indoor pets. ALL ADOPTIONS MUST BE FINALIZED AND APPROVED BY THE FJCASP BOARD. This is to ensure that an experienced person has some oversight on the adoption process; to make sure everyone understands their responsibilities and that the animal will be safe. IT IS PART OF OUR CONTRACT THAT ANY AND ALL MEDICAL TREATMENTS, VETERINARY COSTS, PREVENTATIVES, FOOD AND SHELTER ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ADOPTER.
