Meet Rufus
Meet Rufus, the big, orange cookie monster!
He has had a tough time lately, as he was surrendered to a kill shelter by the only family he knew. Despite the sadness he must be feeling, Rufus is working hard at socializing with his new foster family, and rebuilding trust with his new caretakers. Understandably, he is shy with new people, but he is sweet-natured and wants to be a loved family member.
Motivated by food, our friend Rufus, will readily begin to bond with whoever takes the time to give him a Temptations snack now and then. He never misses a meal, and he'll even walk up to you and do a funny little meow when he knows it's passed feeding time!
He is laid-back, and loves his snacks and naps. He enjoys gentle head scratches and butt rubs, and he'll even stick his booty and tail straight up in the air to show his appreciation. Rufus gets up in the morning with purrs and meows, ready to celebrate the new day (and his breakfast). He goes nuts for catnip, and will roll around and snort like a goofball when he gets some.
And, did we mention that his reddish-orange coat, long luxurious tail, vibrant color, and distinctive markings are to die for!
While Rufus doesn't seem particularly interested in bonding with the other cats in the household, he is tolerant and non-aggressive with them. From what we've seen, he keeps a bit of space between himself and the other resident kitties in his foster home, and he is likely to scurry away from the advances of an overly-friendly cat.
We think that with a stable environment, a little patience, and a lot of love, this big orange cookie monster will be the most gentle and wonderful companion! He is just waiting for that special someone to give all his love, admiration, and time to.
Around 10 years old, Rufus is already neutered, in good health, and has tested negative for Felv and Fiv.
He is litter box trained, and would do best as an only cat in the home.
