Meet Rocky

*Experience with shy cats is a MUST for applicants*
*No Children*

Rocky is a 6-year-old brown spotted Bengal Cat with teal-colored eyes.

We heard about Rocky last month, when a woman reached out to us and told us his story. He originally belonged to a couple who got him when he was a kitten. But when the couple ended up divorcing, he was left with nowhere to go. They placed him with a family that was unsuccessful with him due to his dislike of the bustling nature of the home.

We brought him into our program and he went to a very loving foster who was committed to giving him a safe, loving, calm environment where he could decompress, and we could get to know him better.

Here is what we have learned about Rocky.

Rocky is not fond of other cats, or dogs and of loud sudden noises. His ideal home would be as an only cat in a home with an adult (s) that can give him the love and attention he needs.

Rocky is a sweet and healthy cat. His agility is limited because he is front declawed, although he prefers to jump rather than climb.

Rocky is sociable, curious, bold, and sassy. He is not a finicky eater and has a healthy appetite; he is highly food-motivated. We are extremely pleased that he has excellent litter box habits.

Rocky uses a cat wheel independently as exercise time. He is eager to please, responds well to catnip and is easily redirected after unwanted behavior. He loves squeaky toys, chasing feathered prey with a wand and playing fetch when the mood hits him.

Rocky can be vocal, independent, and stubborn. He has some separation anxiety but is seeing daily improvement with this. Rocky does not like being picked up or held and will warn you to put him down by growling and squirming.

Rocky seeks affection on his terms. He is not a “lap kitty” or couch potato, having moderate energy level. Rocky is afraid of sudden loud noises, like garbage trucks and is a sneaky “door dasher”. New owners will have to be aware of him when he is close to doors.

Our foster has been slowly getting Rocky used to a harness although not ready for leash walking yet. When Rocky is upset with because he didn’t get his way, he likes to turn his “backside” to his humans in protest.

Rocky enjoys being gently brushed. He is mesmerized watching critters on Cat TV. At the end of the day, after being fed and the sun is down, don’t be surprised if Rocky lies down beside you on the couch for a while. He is happiest lounging in a sunny spot.

Rocky is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Rocky, please fill out our adoption application https://bengalrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/
