Meet Ricky

Our vet estimated Ricky to be around 3 months old when he arrived at the hospital as an emergency patient in November 2020. Someone had called the shelter saying they had witnessed a kitten hit by a car on a busy roadway. Ricky suffered a spinal fracture and his jaw was misaligned. At first it was thought that he would need extensive surgery, but rest, time, and immobility was enough for the healing process to work on it’s own. Ricky’s tail is basically motionless but he has some control as he doesn’t drag it. And if that’s the worst of his residual problems, he’s pretty lucky! The vet most recently scanned Ricky in June 2021 and determined he is ready for adoption with no other permanent effects.
His temperament: Ricky is ready to make up for lost time. He loves to play and chase lasers or toy mice. He has mellowed out a bit since moving to a large room with cat trees to climb and windows to sit in. He enjoys playing with the cats here but also get jealous easily. Ricky would benefit from a household with family members who have time to play with him (or a small dog) who would engage him in play. Consider making an appointment to see if Ricky would be the right fit for your family.
