Furiends...what is orange, drools when happy, has a tiny motor, and plays with water? That's our Ren! Sweet Ren is a 1-year-9-month-old female orange kitty who came to Scruffy Paws as a feral rescue. But as we Scruffians believe, every kitty deserves the opportunity to live a grand life inside with hidey-hole tent beds, endless cheek and chin scratches, and catnip toys at their disposal 24/7. And that is precisely what Ren received!

Since being at Scruffy, Ren has been working on her socializing skills. She enjoys the company of her sheltermates but is not always keen on sharing her toys with them. Ren will need time to acclimate to her new surroundings; a patient human and a people-confident cat in the home are a must to help her adjust and feel comfy. And once she is...Ren revs up her purr machine, constantly asking for those cheek and chin scratches - but she can get overstimulated by all that loving which is why we also recommend a quiet, adults-only home. Ren still has her skittish moments - fast movements or loud noises are the culprits.

Ren is a big, happy drooler who enjoys her space, cozy beds to hide in, scratching posts, and playing with water. She can be held but on her terms and in spurts. Ren may initially be a little hissy around new cats, but she only needs time to get to know them. Our superstar Scruffian, Becky, has taken much time and care to give Ren the attention and space she needs to feel safe and loved. So Ren kindly asks if her new family would be so kind as to send Becky updates regarding her adventures and progress.

All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, rabies, and distemper vaccinations, proof of FIV/feline leukemia testing, flea treatment, deworming, and an exam by a licensed veterinarian.

Our shelter hours are by appointment only and are not open to the public. Many of our cats and kittens are located in foster homes. An adoption application MUST be submitted and approved before meeting our cats/kittens. We do this for the safety of our fosters and potential adopters.

Our adoption process includes the following:

1. Adoption Application
To be considered for this cat(s) or kitten(s), you MUST complete an adoption application:
- Through our website (preferred) at www.scruffypawsanimalrescue.org/
- Email a copy to scruffypawsanimalrescue@gmail.com
- Drop off a hard copy to either of our partner PetSmart locations (Johnston or North Smithfield)
- Mail a hard copy to Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue at 2944 Post Rd. Warwick, RI 02886

2. Veterinary Reference
Please call your vet ahead of time to give permission to release records to our adoption team. Out-of-state adoptions typically require an exceptional veterinary reference and are at the discretion of our adoption team.

3. Proof of Home Ownership OR Landlord Approval
The landlord's contact information must be provided if renting so our adoption team can seek approval.

4. Home Visit
Please make sure you are located in our vicinity. We are based out of Warwick, RI. Due to COVID-19, we are currently doing virtual home visits until further notice.
