Meet Queso
DON’T FORGET THE QUESO FOR YOUR COOKOUT! Introducing Queso, who arrived at the shelter with the first day of summer, and now that he has seen the vet and we’ve been able to spend some time with him to find out what a sweet kitty he is, he is ready to find a real home! He’s very friendly and loves to be held and sit on a lap, and he’s also a bit talkative — he likes to converse with his volunteers. He will make a fine companion for humans of any age, and he gets along with the other cats at the shelter, both male and female, so we expect he’ll be fine in a home with other cats. We have not yet dog-tested him, but given his age and the fact that he was a stray, it’s possible he had some negative encounters with dogs in the past. But then again, he’s a very friendly stray, so for all we know he was exposed to friendly dogs in his past life. So if you're interested in Queso and have a dog, let us know and we’ll see what he thinks of a shelter dog.
Queso tested positive for FIV, which is not a serious concern, particularly for indoor-only cats. We’ll be happy to share information on FIV with anyone who has concerns about adopting an FIV+ cat, but it’s not the sort of virus that is life-threatening or requires any sort of special medical care.
Queso is estimated to be 8 years old, is neutered, box-trained, current on vaccinations, tested negative for feline leukemia, and received de-wormers and flea treatments. Adoption fee is $50. Fee may be paid by credit card or money order, payable to “Town of Scituate.” Personal checks are accepted from R.I. residents only, and no cash is accepted.
For more information or an application, email ClayvilleCritters@cox.net, call the shelter at (401) 647-7200, or visit the shelter during regular hours: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri 7 to 11 a.m., Sat 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. PLEASE CALL BEFORE VISITING, to make sure he is still available!
