Poindexter's Story

**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**

***Poindexter, Prudence, Panther and Possum were born in a large cat colony at a paper mill. Despite the normal sibling rivalry that invariably happens, the kittens do enjoy the companionship of each other. They can go home in pairs, or join a family of friendly cats and/or dogs. Just give them a little breathing room, and they will be all be buddies in no time at all!

Meet Pointdexter (Dex)!

Dex is a sleek black kitten with a bright white badge on his chest and a heart full of affection to match. He has blossomed into a friendly, cuddly sweetheart who greets his favourite humans at the door with confident enthusiasm — especially if they come bearing wand toys or snacks! He’s even brave and welcoming with new people (kids included!) as long as they’re ready to play or offer a tasty treat.

Dex loves attention and happily leans in for pets, purring away while he soaks up every bit of affection. Nothing can deter him from cuddles on his favourite lap — vacuum, barking dog and other loud noises included!

Playtime is one of Dex’s greatest joys. He zooms after crinkle balls, springs, and anything he can chew, and he has a special talent for catching wand toys mid-air. His beloved soft catnip mice are his trophies — and he’ll proudly carry them around after a good “hunt.”

When he’s not busy playing or seeking snacks, Dex’s gentle side shines. He offers soft head bumps to his sister Prudence and enjoys quiet cuddle moments with his trusted humans. With his brother Panther and sister Possum, though, it’s all wrestling, all the time — pure kitten fun! He is respectful of older, quieter cats and is curious about calm dogs.

Dex is also quite the chatterbox — you never have to wonder where he is as he lets out sweet little chirps and trills as he goes about life. Calling his name, petting him or even looking at him is greeted with enthusiastic meows!

Would you like to make Poindexter and maybe a sib too, a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.

All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it’s twice the fun for you, and half the work!
