Pixxie and Sofie were originally rescued by Waverly Pet Rescue from a hoarder house in Grundy County, Iowa in January 2016. They were adopted in March of 2016. Owners can no longer keep due to severe allergies to the cats so they are back up for adoption. They are living in a foster home. They are up to date on shots, FeLV / FIV negative, and spayed.
Pixxie and Sofie went to a foster home when they came back to us. They were extremely scared and hid for a long time. They will need to be set up in a room alone when you adopt them and take them home. They will need time to adjust and to settle in. It is super hard on any cat to lose their home. If you are not going to keep a cat for their WHOLE life, do not get one.
Pixxie and Sofie are both about 6-1/2 years old as of May 2021.
Pixxie is the black and white cow kitty. She is a little shy at first but is very loving once she warms up. She likes to snuggle with her people as closely as possible while sitting right alongside them, and never turns down an ear rub. She's active and LOVES playing with a laser light toy to chase the dot and reflections from mirrors and windows keep her happy and busy for hours. She also enjoys sitting by a window sill to look out and do some window hunting for birds and squirrels. One of the cutest things she does is something we call the "flomp." She will be standing, and suddenly like a fainting goat will just flomp herself down on the carpet and roll over for a belly rub or stretch and pull herself along the floor a bit. It's adorable and one of her unique funny qualities.
Sofie is the tabby/calico and she is a lover! She is not usually shy, but opens right up to new people because new people mean more pets and snuggles! She loves her humans and is a lap kitty who also "sits where she fits" and enjoys boxes and containers to play with. She is exceptionally good at comforting her people when they are upset or need some extra cuddles. She's a chatty girl who loves to chirp a love meow at her people and a happy purr! She loves her tummy rubs and ear scratches, and likes to be groomed. Sophie also enjoys windowsill hunting for birds and squirrels. She's a true companion animal who bonds quickly and is adorable at all times with her antics. She enjoys playing with wand toys and fuzzy catnip mice the most.
These girls are a pair, and have spent their lives together. It's important for them to find a home together because I fear they would be lost without one another. I've included a couple of photos with both of them to show their bondedness. They are litter trained and will let you know if their box does not meet their standards by leading you to it to "show you" and meowing their displeasure!
They are good with other cats, they love children, and should also be ok with dogs. They would be the prefect cats for any home!
Will someone please adopt Pixxie and Sofie and give them a forever home? $150 adoption fee for both cats.
WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to email@example.com
All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
