Pixie, her mom and sisters were trapped and rescued by WPR on June 13th, 2019, since they were living under a porch in NW Waverly. Pixie is now up to date on shots, spayed, and she also tested negative for FeLV / FIV.

Pixie was born around 5/1/19 so she is now about a year old as of May 2020. Her foster home and other volunteers have worked diligently having blanket wrap sessions for taming and cuddling. After being in a foster home for 2 months, Pixie is still very shy, skittish and is easily scared especially if someone tries to grab hold of her. She’s ok with being picked up, but doesn’t ask to be picked up. It’s best to distract her with a toy and she lets her guard down and to be petted. When she is snuggly she really does enjoy being loved on, especially when wrapped in a blanket. She is very curious and really is a watcher. She is also loves to explore and is playful. Pixie loves to play with her sisters of course, but with proper introductions she does fine with other cats. Best if she has a playmate and another cat around would help her to overcome her shyness. So she must be adopted in a home with one or both of her sisters, or into a home that already has a young playful cat she can play and bond with.

She is looking for a loving forever home willing to keep working on helping her to blossom to her full loving potential.

11/18/19 UPDATE: Pixie has become much more social since her last time at Norby’s. She was very nervous and scared at first, but has learned to trust people more. Her foster parents visited her everyday bringing her a soft food treat, like she got at home, and noticed a big change in her behavior. Each day she was less scared and didn’t hide in the back as much. She would come to the front even before the food was brought out and asked for love, which she had never really done before. They have been very happy this behavior continues even after she returned to her foster home. She comes around for attention quite often, but does not always want to be petted. It seems that once she associates someone with food/treats she is more social. She may always be a bit guarded when it comes to affection, but if someone understands this and is patient, she’ll let you in. She’s ok with being picked up and doesn’t freak as long as she’s not grabbed, but she doesn’t want to stay long. She’s a watcher, but loves to play too. Her favorite toy is a feather. She loves her sister, but has four other foster friends and does great with them too. I often see Pixie and Charlotte hanging out together and playing. She really is a great cat with a sweet personality and pretty low key. She just needs a home that understands her personality, is patient to gain her trust, and willing to love her and give her a little soft food and treats!

The three sisters are: Pixie, Gidget, and Teeya. (Gidget has been adopted!)

Will someone please adopt Pixie and give her a forever home? $95 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
